#7 THE NINTH CONFIGURATION
The Ninth Configuration image

An intelligently written and brilliantly performed delve into belief and madness, good and evil, The Ninth Configuration also marked the directorial debut of The Exorcist writer William Peter Blatty.

Based on Blatty’s own novel of the same name, The Ninth Configuration centres on a military home for “disturbed” servicemen, in which new psychiatrist Col. Vincent Kane (Stacy Keach) establishes an unorthodox form of treatment in which the inmates effectively run the asylum.

A uniquely bizarre, yet entertainingly madcap and depth filled exploration into theology, insanity, violence, and redemption, The Ninth Configuration has also been described as a spiritual sequel to The Exorcist, with Scott Wilson’s astronaut character Capt. Billy Cutshaw also appearing in the 1973 horror classic.

A cult classic to be sure, but one that should be watched by all.
