From Wales comes The Toll, a quirky crime thriller by director and writer duo Ryan Andrew Hooper and Matt Redd, that stars Michael Smiley in a rare lead role as a toll booth operator with a very shady past that catches up with him.
Inspired by the Coen Brothers and Robert Rodriguez, The Toll makes great use of its Pembrokeshire, Wales, setting as a playground for small time crime and big stakes ramifications surrounding Smiley’s character and his Machiavellian plotting.
An ace script and sharp direction make every minute of The Toll one to watch, with a smattering of eccentric characters keeping things lively throughout.
